Review

Water-based lubes all get sticky, and there’s nothing you can do about it.. Right? Wrong! Shibari proves that wrong with its Intimate Lube, a smooth and slick personal lube that doesn’t get sticky.

If you’re a longtime fan of Shibari Intimate Lubricant, you might notice the formula has changed. Shibari wanted to do away with parabens, a type of preservative that may potentially be harmful. This is a good thing. However, the formula is now thinner than it once was.

The older bottles may still say “Personal Lubricant” rather than “Intimate Lubricant.” It also lists two different type of parabens on the label: propylparaben and methylparaben. Shopping online for Shibari Intimate Lubricant may be tricky because of the switch. Some retailers still depict pictures of the older formula but may sell the newer one.

Both formulas contain glycerin, which can possibly contribute to yeast infections.

As a thinner lube, Shibari Intimate Lubricant might not work well if you prefer a pillowy lube for anal sex. It may be too runny and messy for use with toys. However, it’s compatible with condoms.

But you’ll want a silicone-based lube for playing in the water because water washed away water-based lubes like this one. Fortunately, Shibari makes one of those, too!

The smallest three bottles are squeeze bottles. You’ll want the 32-ounce bottle if you prefer a mess-free pump.
